This is meant as an introduction on the essential role of demo-farms to help build demonstrative capacity in particular for SMEs, to facilitate accessibility of innovative solutions for SMEs, and on the need for investments to be made to support the private sector with 4.0 technologies generally and in bio-based innovation more specifically.
- 2:30-3:30 PM - Conference #1: The conference will provide participants with insights into the changing needs of the food system with a focus on bio-based innovation of agricultural/horticultural technologies; food ingredients, products and packaging materials. The conference will be articulated around the tomatoe case study and will open up to more productions wih EU-wide experiences of innovation having significant impact on process optimization and for the application of a circular economy strategy.

Thursday 1st July: High-Tech Zero Carbon Footprint Horticulture & Fruticulture
- 10:00-11:00 AM - Conference #2 : The session is aimed at presenting inspiring activities that help reduce the carbon footprint in horticulture and fruticulture production systems. The starting point will be a focus on ornamental productions, which are extremely important in Tuscany. The role of Demofarms in these two sectors will be also be discussed.
